Wiley, Jose

Dr. Jose Wiley embarked on this mission in his native Puerto Rico, where he completed medical school at the Universidad Central del Caribe, Bayamon in June 1994. Two years later he moved to New Orleans and completed a residency in internal medicine in 1998, followed by a fellowship in cardiology in 2001 at the Tulane University School of Medicine. As a chief cardiology fellow, Dr. Wiley was awarded with the Albert Hyman “Fellow of the Year” award in 2001.

Aldo, Torres

Dr. Torres graduated with honors from the Medical School of the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, where he is originally from. After graduation, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Tecnologico de Monterrey and subsequently became interested in Nephrology after working in Texas as a researcher for the Phase III Trials of the novel Hypoxia-Inducible Factor inhibitors. He completed a Medicine Residency at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans and started his Nephrology fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center but completed it at Ochsner Medical Center.  

Ting, Pengsheng

Peng-Sheng (Brian) Ting earned his medical degree from National Taiwan University College of Medicine and went on to internal medicine training at the Osler Residency Training Program at Johns Hopkins University; he completed his gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Terre, Juan

Dr. Juan Terré joined the Tulane University SOM - Section of Cardiology in June of 2022 as an Associate Professor of Medicine. He was hired as Co-director of the LSU-Tulane Structural Heart & Valve program at the University Medical Center New Orleans.

Owens, Jonathan

Jonathan Owens, M.D. has returned home to Louisiana to join the faculty of the Tulane Department of Otolaryngology as an assistant professor.  After receiving a BA from the University of Virginia and his MD from Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Owens completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Colorado.  

Matter, Michelle

     Dr. Matter received a PhD in cell biology from the University of Virginia Medical School. After completing her postdoctoral research with Dr. Erkki Ruoshlati at The Sanford Burnham Institute, Dr. Matter joined the University of Hawaii School of Medicine as an assistant professor. She obtained tenure as associate professor at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center in 2015 before joining Tulane School of Medicine as a tenured professor in 2022.

Ali, Alsaad

Dr. Alsaad completed Internal Medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional/Structural Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Chicago. Dr. Alsaad’s research is focused on intravascular imaging and quality improvement in health care. Dr. Alsaad has over 50 publications and book chapters in the fields of internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Alsaad has several awards and recognitions including an outstanding resident award from the American College of Physicians.

Alvarado, Flor E.

Dr. Flor Alvarado completed her medical school training and a Master of Public Health at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, followed by residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She completed her nephrology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University; during this time, she also obtained a Master of Health Science in cardiovascular and clinical epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is an assistant professor of medicine in the Section of Nephrology and Hypertension.
