Biography

Jonathan Owens, M.D. has returned home to Louisiana to join the faculty of the Tulane Department of Otolaryngology as an assistant professor.  After receiving a BA from the University of Virginia and his MD from Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Owens completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Colorado.   Upon completion of his residency, he established a private practice in Napa, California. He has worked in Boise, Idaho, and most recently in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he has served as president of the medical staff and chief of surgery. At the onset of the COVID crisis, he was appointed to lead the medical staff surgical pandemic response.   He has a general otolaryngology practice, with interests in sinus disease, voice disorders, sleep medicine, cochlear implantation, and thyroid/parathyroid disease.  His research interests include pathophysiology of sinusitis and innate sinus mucosal immunity. Dr. Owens has relocated to New Orleans with his wife, a pediatric hospitalist; his daughter, headed to Stanford University; and son who will enter high school and is excited to make memories with Dad cheering on the WhoDat Nation.
