Biography
Richard (Rich) Priore is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, where he teaches healthcare financial management in the MHA and DrPH programs. His research interests include physician alignment and making a business case for improving quality. His leadership experience spans 30 years in the investor-owned, not-for-profit, and government healthcare sectors with senior executive roles in integrated and academic health systems, physician-owned specialty hospitals, complex clinical service lines, and large multispecialty group practices. He served as an Associate Professor in the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health and most recently as a Distinguished Service Professor in the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. He earned a Doctorate in Health Systems Management from Tulane University and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Baylor University. He is board certified in healthcare management and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). His recent book Improving Financial and Operations Performance: A Healthcare Leader’s Guide provides a practical ‘how to’ approach for driving organizational excellence. Rich is a U.S. Army veteran with tours of duty in Europe, East Asia, and Washington, DC.
